Steph, what you were saying about your dad is so close to what I went through, though he wasn't a pastor...A few weeks after I came back from EXCEL, he burst out really bad towards me, and among other things said "I PAID OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THEM TO FIX YOU!!!!"
Them, being ATI nazi's and fixing, meaning to lose my personality. Thankfully, my mother was able to come to a place were she could finally divorce him, something I learned later that she had wanted to do since a few months after their honeymoon. Not that that was a shock to me in the least. They fought like crazy all the time. My home life revolved around fear of him and trying to keep the man happy, so he'd treat us a little nicer.
My mom told me that that particular outburst at me was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. She was finally able to see how warped he was and how damaging he was to my emotional well being. She didn't want the rest of my siblings to have to suffer his wrath so to speak.
I recommend watching the documentary 'Jesus Camp'. Very unnerving...and familiar.

Yeah, jesus camp is a prime example of the damage christianity can do to people. I saw it and was really unnerved.

Yeah, its crazy. You had all these, 8, 9 year old kids balling their eyes out. Poor brainwashed kids. I hope they make a sequel in 6-7 years, showing where they are as teens...
